Meet the New Principal
Mr. Gary Stidham is serving his second year at Vanoss. A former coach and teacher, Mr. Stidham has a long history in education. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arkansas, his Master’s Degree From the University of Tulsa and his Principal’s Certification from the University of Central Oklahoma.
His career has spanned the state: Bixby, Latta, Cashion, Konawa, Wanette and now Vanoss. He has coached basketball, football and track, with many notable successes along the way. Modest in nature, Mr. Stidham credits his accomplishments to “the good, hard-working people around me. I’ve been in a lot of the right places at the right times, and I had good people to work with.”
One of those “good people” is his wife of 32 years, Shelli (Stephens), a Latta native who has been tremendously supportive of Mr. Stidham’s career. Their daughter, Staley, will soon graduate from Oklahoma University.
Above everything, Mr. Stidham wants students to know he will listen to them, “I think it’s critical they know that I’ll try to be fair. They need to know they can be heard.”
